The Junk Boys' Golden Eye — Episode 16

Twenty-four-year-old down-and-out painter Kyle Carter possesses a unique supernatural ability: his right eye has awakened a golden X-ray vision that can peer beneath the surface of antiques and works of art to detect traces of forgery. Burdened by his mother’s critical illness and desperate for a staggering sum for her surgery, he is cornered by Hugo, a counterfeit art dealer. Under duress, Kyle is forced to splash urine on a sky-high-priced classical painting at an upscale art salon in exchange for Hugo’s promise to purchase artwork from him. Chaos erupts immediately after the stunt. Kyle is brutally beaten by security guards. When he strikes his forehead and bleeds, his power surges to its full potential. On the spot, he exposes a modern barcode hidden beneath layers of the exhibited masterpiece, proving it is nothing more than a blatant fake. Amid the commotion, he snatches an elderly man’s electric wheelchair and flees the salon, embarking on a frantic escape while exposing one counterfeit after another. Speeding on the wheelchair, Kyle crashes Hugo’s collection of imitation imperial porcelain and incinerates plastic replicas passed off as amber. One overpriced fake after another is laid bare, prompting the wealthy patrons present to demand full refunds from Hugo. Sophia, a top art appraiser, arrives to verify the evidence and confirms the painting is forged. Enraged, Hugo humiliates Kyle by offering merely a five-dollar cheque and refuses to honour his buying agreement.
