A Sacrifice to the Milky Way — Episode 18

My senior sister and I survived the heavenly tribulation and ascended. I chose the Upper Realm, pursuing the Great Dao. But her heart remained in the mortal world. For a mortal emperor, she shattered her immortal bones and willingly stayed behind to become his empress. Years later, when my spirit wandered into the lower realm, I found her sealed beneath the Demon-Locking Tower, her spiritual veins severed and her body withered, used to stabilize the empire's fortune. Once an immortal maiden, she now had hair like withered grass and broken spiritual veins. Every sacrifice she made bought her nothing but disgrace and celebrations held after her downfall. From the ninth heaven, I settled every debt owed to her, guarded her soul so it could rest in peace, and finally laid to rest this obsession that had crossed the boundary between immortals and mortals.
