A Desperate Love — Episode 8

The year my father’s affair drove my mother to death, I hated him. To atone, he pushed Victor Young, whom I loved for ten years, into my bed. After one night, I fell deeply in love. By the third month, persuaded by Victor, I forgave my father. By the fourth, I was pregnant. I became the most pampered pregnant woman in Beverly Hills. At every check-up, they waited for me. Everyone said I was treated like a princess by both my husband and father. But on my anatomy scan day, neither showed up. 'We have an important project,' my father said, stroking my hair. Victor rubbed my belly: 'I’ll bring gifts for you and the baby.' I smiled as they left, but before the visit, I received an anonymous video. My father was in a groom’s suit next to Morgana Ashford, the woman who drove my mother to death. Beside her was their illegitimate daughter, visibly pregnant in a wedding dress, arm-in-arm with Victor Young. 'Double joy!' someone cheered. 'Congratulations to Mr. Hunter on finding true love, and to Mr. Young for the perfect bride!' At the end, my father spoke lightly: 'Your fake marriage to Emily means nothing. The child will be illegitimate.' Victor chuckled: 'Emily has everything, while Isabella grew up as an illegitimate daughter. I can't let her child suffer the same.' I bit my lip, leaving the hospital, when my phone buzzed. A sterilization certificate appeared: 'If you wish, your unborn child will be the only heir of my life'.

The acting and pacing are top notch for a short drama. That confrontation scene was unforgettable!
